Champion’s Commitment to the Environment.

Champion Exposition Services is committed to ecological conservation and reducing our carbon footprint. As the general contractor for hundreds of shows a year, Champion has the unique opportunity to act as a partner, educator and leader in the events industry. By highlighting new technology, facilitating dialogues across industries and ensuring that we are providing easy access to opportunities for all show organizers and exhibitors we aim to create a higher percentage of eco-friendly environments.

Internal Procedures & Processes:

  • Client Command Center » We are working to achieve a relatively paper free environment through the use of our innovative Client Command Center™ (C3) system and various exhibitor services programs, such as online ordering, eFax and Live Chat.
  • Recycling Programs » Recycling bins are positioned in every office and warehouse. Partnerships with our various vendors have been in place to recycle all plastic and cardboard materials used for packing and show production.
  • Paper Products » Champion uses paper products with post-consumer content in all offices and on-site.
  • Green Education » Champion’s new green committee strives to educate all employees on daily practices as well as alternative substrates available for show production. An intranet communication platform has been developed to maintain current information and initiatives.

Champion’s Current Green Achievements:

  • Exhibitor Kits » The kits are available online and on CD, saving over 200 pages of paper and .5 kilowatts of power per kit.
  • Green Education » Champion works with show management to develop green tips for exhibitors, on a show specific basis.
  • VUTEk Printers » Our advanced VUTEk flatbed direct-to-substrate printing technology allows us to produce high quality signage without laminate or glues, thereby reducing non-recyclable plastic product and energy consumption by 33%. VUTEks also print on a number of different recyclable substrates including EcoSign™. The VUTEk inks contain some naturally-derived monomers and oligomers derived from renewable resources such as plants or biomass. These inks contain virtually no volatile organic compounds (VOC).
  • EcoSign™ » Champion uses EcoSign™ substrate board for a majority of the shows for which we produce graphics. All EcoSign™ products are made from 100% recyclable materials and are element chlorine free. Champion has partnered with our vendor to provide 'complete circle' utilization, whereby the packing/shipping materials and even the signs, post-show, are recycled back into signage and/or packing materials. This substrate, in conjunction with our VUTEk printers, provides graphics that are totally recyclable. Post-show the EcoSign™ substrate, in conjunction with the direct print application, is be deposited into most facilities' existing cardboard recycling receptacles. Using EcoSign™ reduces Champion’s use of non-recyclable plastic products by more than 30%.
  • Recyclable Components » Champion’s proprietary Modular Aluminum system is extruded from 60% scrap aluminum, of which 55% is post industrial scrap and 5% is post consumer product. As the product reaches the end of its life cycle, it is returned to a scrap yard to be recycled into new product.
  • Eco-friendly Carpet » Champion has spearheaded an initiative to offer eco-friendly aisle carpet for every show we manage. It is recyclable, durable and the quality is indistinguishable from our standard carpet. This carpet, Matrix, is made from 25% post industrial recycled content.
  • Padding » On the majority of our events, Champion uses 98%-100% sanitized recycle core for our booth padding. This product is recyclable; the majority of our end of life padding is picked up and recycled from our carpet depots. In addition, this product passes CRI Green label for indoor air.
  • Visqueen » On every event, Champion uses a completely recyclable product made from recycled raw materials. This product meets ASTM D4397.
  • Shrink Wrap » On every event, Champion uses a completely recyclable product that meets ASTM D1922, 21 CFR 177 1520.
  • Table Toppers » On every event, Champion uses a completely recyclable PVC film product that is PET #3.
  • Wastebaskets » On 90% of all events, Champion uses disposable wastebaskets that are made from 100% recycled materials. These wastebaskets are completely recyclable and printed on with soy based inks. The wastebasket liners are biodegradable.
  • Champion Shipping Systems » Our service organizes shipment consolidations in specific regions to minimize the use of multiple trucks. CSS is committed to using and partnering with SmartWay Transportation affiliated carriers.
